Kobe Bryant injury update: Lakers’ star gets treatment Friday, still iffy for opener

Though his status for the regular-season opener against the Dallas Mavericks remains unclear, Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant received treatment on his strained foot at the team's facility on Friday, according to LA Times beat writer Mike Bresnahan.

The Lakers were given an off day on Friday, but Bryant went to the facility to get treatment from team personnel on the right foot that he injured during a 99-92 loss on Sunday to the Sacramento Kings. Bryant stepped awkwardly on a teammate's foot and sat out the Lakers' preseason finale and the Wednesday loss to the Los Angeles Clippers due to the injury.

The Lakers went 0-8 in the 2012 preseason and have looked out of sorts while failing to find any rhythm and continuity with the team's newest acquisitions, Steve Nash and Dwight Howard.

Given the fact that the injury has caused Bryant to miss time and that Howard has had injury issues of his own while nursing a back ailment, the Lakers’ starters have only played one game together during the preseason.

No official word from the team has been given with respect to Bryant’s official status for Tuesday’s opener.
