The Utah Jazz exercised the team option on head coach Tyrone Corbin's contract on Tuesday, extending his contract through the 2013-14 season, the team announced. Terms of the contract weren't released in accordance with team policy.

The Utah Jazz on Tuesday picked up head coach Tyrone Corbin’s option that runs through next season.

“Greg Miller, Randy Rigby and Kevin O’Connor made an excellent choice when they selected Tyrone Corbin to lead this team. I have been very impressed with Ty’s leadership skills, as well as his openness and collaborative nature,” Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey said in the team release.
Corbin has led the Jazz since February 2011, when he took over as an interim coach in place of long-time head coach Jerry Sloan. In the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season, Corbin led Utah to an eight-seed finish with a 36-30 record and a playoff berth. The Jazz went 7-2 in the last nine games of the year to earn the playoff spot.
Corbin holds a 44-50 record as a head coach.. He is the seventh head coach in Jazz history and only the fourth since the team moved to Utah.
After spending 16 years in the NBA as a player, Corbin served as a player mentor for the D-League's North Charleston Lowgators and then as a manager of player development for the New York Knicks. In 2004, Corbin joined Utah's staff as an assistant to Sloan and has been with the Jazz since.
