Utah (4-4) trailed by 11 in the fourth quarter and used a three-pointer from Al Jefferson to send the game into its first overtime.
The game lasted longer than three hours, and there were seven lead changes in the contest. DeMar DeRozan played a career-high 59 minutes and led all scorers with 37 points on 16-of-33 shooting from the field for the Raptors. Jefferson added 24 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Utah, who used a 53.6 percent shooting night from the arc to survive the onslaught by Toronto.
Toronto (1-6) outscored Utah in the paint, 54-40, and narrowly won the rebounding battle, 52-46, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the strong shooting performance by the Jazz. Toronto led the closely contested game by as much as 11, while Utah’s largest lead was seven.
