Thursday’s NBA schedule and TV info

The unbeaten Knicks face the nearly perfect Spurs in one of three Thursday games.

At 5-0, the New York Knicks have been one of the biggest surprises of the NBA so far. But they'll face arguably their stiffest test of the young season when they travel to San Antonio to take on the 7-1 Spurs.

The Knicks have a tough task in front of them. Not only must they beat the Spurs, who have the best defense in the NBA and have won 18 of their last 19 regular-season games. But they must also win in San Antonio, where the Knicks haven’t picked up a victory in over nine years. New York will need its offense, one of the league’s best at 103.4 points per game, to lead the way.

New York vs. San Antonio is the top game of a light Thursday schedule. Only four other teams take the court. The Celtics travel to Brooklyn for the first time to play the new-look Nets in the first matchup between the teams this season. Out west, the high-flying Denver Nuggets welcome the Miami Heat to town. Those games will be the national doubleheader on TV.

Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets, 8:00 p.m. ET, TNT
After an 0-2 start, Boston has won five of its last six games.

New York Knicks at San Antonio Spurs, 8:30 p.m. ET, Local TV/League Pass
New York's last 5-0 start was the 1993-94 season, when the team began the year 7-0.

Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets, 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT/NBA TV
This will be the second game of Miami’s first western road trip of the season.
