Andrew Bynum injury: 76ers center says he has setback with knee

Philadelphia 76ers star center Andrew Bynum told reporters on Friday he suffered another setback after doctors found swelling and cartilage damage in his left knee

Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired their prized offseason acquisition of center Andrew Bynum from the Los Angeles Lakers, but the star center has yet to appear in a game for his new club and it may not be soon, after Bynum told reporters on Friday he suffered another setback with his knee.

The New Jersey product told reporters, including Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News, he suffered a setback in his much anticipated return, after team doctors discovered swelling and cartilage damage in his left knee. Bynum’s other injury is involving his right knee.

The 7’0” big man played in 60 of 66 possible regular games last season, missing just one game because of injury, four others due to suspension and one for rest on the final game of the season. Bynum averaged nearly 19 points on 56% shooting from the floor last season with the Lakers, while collecting almost 12 boards per game and rejecting two shots per game from opposing players.
