Terrence Williams signs 1-year contract to play in China

After being waived by the Pistons in late October, Terrence Williams signed a one-year contract with a team in China.

After being waived by the Pistons in training camp and unable to catch on with another NBA team, free agent guard Terrence Williams signed a one-year deal to play in China on Thursday, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Williams signed with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. Williams won't be the only player with NBA experience on the roster as former NBA forward Yi Jianlian also players for Guangdong.

Williams spent parts of three seasons in the NBA, playing for the New Jersey Nets, Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings. He played in 30 games last season, averaging 7.1 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game. Williams, who the Nets originally selected with the No. 11 pick in the 2009 NBA draft, has career averages of 7.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

He signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Pistons in September but was waived Oct. 22.
