Following his first game as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, Mike D'Antoni expressed his confidence in Metta World Peace's shooting from behind the arc. D'Antoni told the media: "He should be wide open every time. . . . He was 4-9 for threes. He's 10 a game and I told him he needs to make 4-10 every game."

With that recipe, World Peace will get “17-20 points,” D’Antoni figures. But here’s the problem: The artist formerly known as Ron Artest is not a 40 percent shooter from three-point range. His career mark is 34.2 percent, and this year he has made 25 of 70 (35.7 percent) from long distance.
The Lakers have attempted 20.6 three-pointers per game this season. World Peace has averaged 6.4 three-point attempts per game this season, which is much higher than his career mark. With Steve Blake and Steve Nash out of the lineup, Los Angeles does not have many three-point shooters, so World Peace may continue to get an increased work load.
