Wednesday will be remembered as the night that Kevin Love shocked the NBA and returned to game action for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but it was not a triumphant one, as the Wolves (5-5) lost 101-94 to the Denver Nuggets (6-6). It was no fault of Love, though, who was spectacular in 35 minutes, scoring 34 points on 12-25 shooting while collecting 14 rebounds.
Nuggets vs. Timberwolves final score: Minnesota falls 101-94 in Kevin Love’s return
A surprise return by Minnesota’s star big man was not enough to hold off the Nuggets.

Unfortunately for Love, the rest of his team had trouble keeping pace. Minnesota shot just 38 percent from the field and 10-28 from three-point range. They also shot just 16-25 from the free-throw line in a game in which the Nuggets shot 22-26 from the stripe. Only two other Timberwolves shot at least 50 percent: Nikola Pecovic, who scored 10 points on 4-7 shooting, and Dante Cunningham, who scored four points on 2-4 shooting.
Denver, meanwhile, was powered by the resurgent Danilo Gallinari, who scored 19 points and added six rebounds. Both Ty Lawson and Andre Igoudala were right on his heels with 18 points each -- Lawson put up nine assists and two rebounds, while Igoudala chipped in with nine rebounds and two assists. Jordan Hamilton also continued his hot shooting off of the bench, scoring 12 points on 3-6 shooting from three in 19 minutes.
Both teams will be off until Friday night. The Wolves will visit the Portland Trail Blazers, while the Nuggets will host the Golden State Warriors.
