Anthony Davis injury: Monty Williams upset with NBA concussion policy

New Orleans Hornets head coach Monty Williams is upset that the NBA’s concussion policy prevented star rookie Anthony Davis from making the trip to Chicago on Saturday.

Rookie big man Anthony Davis suffered a concussion during the New Orleans Hornets' win over the Utah Jazz on Friday night. He's currently day-to-day, but Hornets coach Monty Williams is not happy that the number one overall pick didn't make the team's trip to Chicago due to the NBA's concussion policy:

“It’s a man’s game. They’re treating these guys like they’re 5 years old. He desperately wanted to come, but he couldn’t make it.”

Davis, who is from Chicago, apparently wanted to make the trip, but was not allowed to. The NBA concussion policy prohibits players from flying while they exhibit concussion symptoms, which Davis did prior to the team leaving New Orleans. Davis was injured when he took an inadvertent elbow to the head from teammate Austin Rivers.

Two games into his professional career, Davis is averaging 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Even without Davis' presence in the middle, the Hornets went into Chicago and beat the Bulls 89-82 on Saturday night. The team's next game is Wednesday, Nov. 7, when they host the Philadelphia 76ers at New Orleans Arena.
