Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy still a gamblin’ man
In 2007, ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy pleaded guilty to gambling on games he officiated. After paying his debt to society, he’s free to do whatever he wants. Naturally, he wants to watch basketball with a gamblers’ eye.

Disgraced former NBA referee Tim Donaghy, who in 2007 pleaded guilty to two felony charges for gambling on the very games that he officiated, planned to celebrate the end of his probation by taking in a game at Madison Square Garden.
Donaghy told The Linemakers on Sporting News that he saw no issues with being back in an NBA arena:
“I don’t think there is any reason why they’d remove me from the stadium. I’m there to take in a game and look at some live action and do a bit of scouting. I’m not even too sure that anyone is really going to notice me, to be honest with you.”
He’s just a guy who wants to catch a game. No big deal, right?
Now that he’s off probation, and can freely associate with whoever he wishes, Donaghy is employed by Danny Biancullo, a convicted felon, as an NBA handicapper whose specialization is -- you might not be surprised to learn -- paying close attention to the tendencies of his former colleagues.
He just couldn’t stay away.
