The Indiana Pacers announced on Wednesday that small forward Danny Granger is expected to miss three more months as he recovers from an injured left knee. Granger visited Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday and received an injection to treat left patellar tendinosis.

Granger has been out since he felt a sharp pain in his knee during a preseason game against the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 26. The team was hoping that the injury would naturally heal itself but decided to seek more intensive treatment this week. The Pacers have struggled to a 2-2 start this season in Granger's absence, with losses to the San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Bobcats and narrow victories over the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings.
Indiana coach Frank Vogel has been searching for the right lineup combinations to combat Granger's absence, but he has been unable to find agreeable rotations. Free agent acquisition Gerald Green started in Granger's place in the team's first three games, but he was replaced in the starting lineup by Sam Young in Monday's loss to the Spurs.
In 62 games for the Pacers last season, Granger averaged 18.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, his lowest totals in each category since the 2006-07 season.
