With Danny Granger lost to a knee injury, the Indiana Pacers contacted free agent wing Mickael Pietrus recently, according to Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star. Granger, the Pacers' leading scorer, will be out for up to three months, leaving the team in a bit of a bind.

The Indiana Pacers have identified veteran free agent Mickael Pietrus as a possible replacement for the injured Danny Granger.

While the Pacers still have some solid options on the wings to alleviate Granger's absence, including emerging third-year forward Paul George, Gerald Green and Lance Stephenson, Pietrus would provide a veteran presence, solid defense and a long-distance shooting option, three things that Granger often brought to the table.
Last year, Pietrus appeared in 42 games with the Boston Celtics, averaging 6.9 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game while primarily coming off the bench. The 30-year-old's shooting numbers were down a bit last season, but he's still a generally-reliable shooter that's made 36 percent of his three-pointer attempts over a nine-year career.
