Luol Deng injury update: Bulls forward sprains thumb vs. Thunder

Bulls’ Luol Deng sprains thumb during 4th quarter loss to Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Chicago Bulls lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder Thursday night, and it could be more costly than an another game in the loss column. Already down former MVP Derrick Rose, Bulls forward Luol Deng hurt his thumb during the fourth quarter. Deng hurt the thumb when Serge Ibaka blocked his jump shot, hitting Deng's hand on the follow through. According to ESPN Chicago, Deng says the injury was just a finger jam.

“I jammed my thumb,” Deng said after the game. “Just got to ice it, treat it.”

Deng has been playing through a wrist injury since late last season. Deng put off surgery to play for Great Britain during the London Olympics. He has since said he doesn’t plan on getting the surgery unless the wrist doesn’t respond well to treatment he’s been receiving.

Deng led the Bulls with 27 points against the Thunder and is averaging 15.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game on the season. The Bulls next play the Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday night.
