The Indiana Pacers will continue to play in Indianapolis for at least another season as the city and team try to hammer out a long-term deal to keep them playing at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Pacers reach deal to stay in Indianapolis in 2013-14
The Indiana Pacers have extended their deal to play at Bankers Life Fieldhouse by a season, giving the franchise extra time to reach a long-term deal to stay in the city.

There’s no imminent danger of the team leaving for another city, but the deal essentially buys time for the two sides to reach a deal to keep things steady: the Pacers are currently playing in the final year of a deal that loaned them $30 million over three seasons to help operate the stadium. Now, that deal has a fourth year for an additional $10 million. If the team remains in the stadium through 2019, they’ll be absolved of any commitment to pay back the loans.
The Pacers have played in Indianapolis ever since the organization's founding as an ABA franchise in 1967. They haven't gotten as far in talks to leave the city as the Sacramento Kings have, but they've been near the bottom of the league in attendance for several seasons, finishing second-to-last last season and dead last the year before.
