The NBA suspended Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins on Wednesday for hitting Dallas guard O.J. Mayo in the groin during Monday's meeting between the Kings and Mavericks, Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick reports. The 6'11 center will miss Wednesday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended by the league for hitting Dallas Mavericks guard O.J. Mayo in the groin.

Boxing out the smaller Mayo on a shot attempt, Cousins extended his right arm below Mayo’s belt, and in the aftermath of the game, Mayo told ESPN Dallas that Cousins had “mental issues” and was immature. Cousins responded by saying the hit was accidental, but he went back at Mayo through the media after hearing Mayo’s comments.
Cousins took a shot at Mayo in the Sacramento Bee in an article published on Tuesday:
“I heard,” Cousins said. “This coming from a guy that doesn’t have a great image himself. So what does his really mean? I’m fine with it.”
The suspension is Cousins' second this season. He received a two-game punishment earlier in the season after confronting San Antonio Spurs commentator Sean Elliott following a game on Nov. 9.
Cousins is averaging 17.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
