Jason Terry digs at Ray Allen’s loyalty

Jason Terry made a critical comment about Ray Allen’s decision to leave the Boston Celtics while talking about his teammate Paul Pierce Wednesday night.

Jason Terry wasn't satisfied with praising Paul Pierce after his Boston Celtics teammate scored 40 points Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers: he also called out Ray Allen for leaving the Celtics to play for the Miami Heat.

Terry praised the loyalty of Pierce, who has spent his entire 14-year career playing with the Celtics, but also criticized Allen, not naming names while making it very clear to whom he was referring:

"His (Pierce) willingness to stick through the tough times and not just jump off, 'I'm out of here! I'm going to join forces with Kobe (Bryant),' or 'I'm going to play with Dwyane Wade' -- that's a shot right there," Terry said.

It's a bit of an odd choice for Terry to criticize Allen for leaving Boston: first off, the two were never teammates in Boston. Secondly, Allen's departure opened up a shooting guard spot for the Celtics to sign Terry in the first place. Third, Terry, like Allen, left his long-time club where he had won an NBA Championship to join a perceived frontrunner. In fact, he spent more time with the Dallas Mavericks than Allen did in Boston. But then again, Terry has never been one for watching his mouth.
