J.R. Smith hit the game-tying and game-winning baskets to push the New York Knicks over the Phoenix Suns in a 99-97 win. The Knicks bounced back from their Christmas Day loss against the Lakers to edge out Phoenix on the road without two of their key contributors.

J.R. Smith hit the two big buckets to lift the New York Knicks over the Phoenix Suns.


Smith led the way for New York, scoring 27 points, grabbing six rebounds, dishing five assists, and managing five steals as well. Smith hit a fadeaway with ten seconds left, and then hit another fadeaway just as the buzzer sounded to help the Knicks improve to 21-8. Phoenix fell to 11-18.
For the Knicks, Jason Kidd put in 23 points, eight assists and six rebounds, Tyson Chandler added 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Chris Copeland put in 14 points of his own. Jared Dudley had an incredible 36 points to lead Phoenix, as four other Suns finished in double figures.
The Knicks played without Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton, both of whom sat out after suffering minor injuries against the Lakers.
