Dwyane Wade: ‘I’m far from being a dirty player’

Dwyane Wade defended his actions on Twitter Thursday night, after getting suspended one game for kicking Ramon Sessions in the groin.

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade was suspended one game for his kick to the groin of Charlotte Bobcats guard Ramon Sessions in the Heat's 105-92 victory over the Bobcats on Wednesday. After the suspension was handed down on Thursday, Wade took to Twitter to defend his actions:

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s game after Sessions reached in and fouled Wade while he was dribbling the ball up the court. Almost immediately, Wade kicked his leg up toward Sessions’ groin area and made contact. After the game, Sessions said he felt the kick was intentional.

Wade has had some prior history with retaliatory incidents before. In the 2012 All-Star Game, Wade broke Kobe Bryant's nose after the Heat guard was angered about the officials not calling fouls on Bryant earlier in the game. In last year's playoffs, Wade committed a flagrant foul on the Pacers' Darren Collison after complaining about not getting a call. And finally, Wade has also had run-ins with Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett.

Wade will miss the Heat's game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday before returning to action on Saturday when Miami heads to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks. Mike Miller will likely start against the Pistons.
