Daniel Gibson injury: Cavaliers guard takes hard shot to the head

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson was inadvertently hit in the head during Friday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson left Friday's game against the Atlanta Hawks after getting hit in the head by the forearm of Hawks player Anthony Morrow with 6:54 left in the second quarter.

Gibson was coming off a screen when he was hit by Morrow. Teammates gathered around Gibson has he laid on the floor after getting hit. Gibson was eventually helped to his feet and able to leave the court on his own power. He will not return to the game. Cleveland has yet to release the status of his injury.

Gibson played six minutes in the first half, missing his only shot attempt. He scored two points at the free throw line and had one rebound.

The Cavs trail Atlanta 55-54 at halftime. Kyrie Irving has 15 points and three assists and Dion Waiters has 16 points and two steals for the Cavs. Jeff Teague has scored 14 points for the Hawks, Anthony Tolliver has 11 points and Lou Williams has scored 10 points.
