Lakers’ Antawn Jamison confused by lack of minutes

The Lakers forward has fallen out of the playing rotation just as the team started winning.

Veteran forward Antawn Jamison expressed concerned about his recent lack of playing time for the Los Angeles Lakers following his team's impressive 104-87 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.

After logging his fifth consecutive DNP-Coach’s Decision, Jamison told Lakers beat writer Mark Medina that the Lakers are essentially telling him “his services are no longer needed.” Jamison played a significant role in the playing rotation, including starting in five games earlier in the season as the Lakers struggled to find a winning groove.

The Lakers are 4-1 since Mike D'Antoni started leaving Jamison on the bench as Los Angles has won six of their last seven games. All of the recent winning has more to do with Steve Nash's return to the court and a healthy Pau Gasol getting an opportunity to show what he can do with Nash on the court than it does with Jamison's lack of court time.

With all of the big names and egos on the Lakers roster, there will always be a player or two left with a smaller role than they are use to. Jamison appears to have no role at this point, though which may in turn make him an option on the trade market for teams looking for a front court scoring option before the NBA trade deadline.
