Lakers vs. Hornets results: Kobe’s milestone caps 103-87 L.A. win

The Lakers showed a sense of urgency and collected just their second road win of the season as Kobe Bryant reached another milestone and became the youngest player in NBA history to score 30,000 points.

Kobe Bryant became just the fifth player in NBA history to score 30,000 points, and the youngest ever to accomplish the feat, as the Los Angeles Lakers collected their second road win of the season as they defeated the New Orleans Hornets, 103-87, on Wednesday night.

Bryant was efficient after taking 31 shots Tuesday night in Houston, and scored 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting. He added six rebounds, four assists and three steals as the Lakers put together a complete effort on both sides of the floor. Turnovers have plagued L.A. this season, and they managed to take much better care of the ball against New Orleans, committing just nine giveaways on the evening. They totaled 11 steals and scored 17 fast-break points.

Dwight Howard made the most of his 11 shots, connecting on seven field-goal attempts and totaling 18 points and adding eight rebounds.

Ryan Anderson led all scorers with 31 points for the Hornets, and was on target from the three-point line, going 5-for-8.

The Lakers moved to 9-10 on the season with the win, while New Orleans fell to 5-12. New Orleans had just 16 bench points and struggled late to keep up with the hot shooting of the Lakers, who outscored them 56-39 in the second half.
