The Charlotte Bobcats received a serious scare in the second quarter of their game on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs when rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist left with an injury. Kidd-Gilchrist fell hard to the floor and suffered a tailbone contusion, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

The rookie was treated with ice and returned to the game in the third quarter.
His injury looked a lot worse than it was, as Kidd-Gilchrist was down on the ground for a while before walking off under his own power. It’s been a rough game for him, as he also tweaked his ankle in the first half.
Prior to departing, Kidd-Gilchrist had 6 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists for Charlotte in just over 17 minutes. The Bobcats trailed 59-44 at the break.
In his debut season in the NBA after helping Kentucky to a national championship, Kidd-Gilchrist has been very productive for Charlotte. He’s averaging 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
