Brandon Jennings hasn't had an outstanding week for the Milwaukee Bucks on the court as he's made just eight of his 26 shot attempts on the way to 22 total points in three games. The Milwaukee faithful probably aren't going to be happy about Jennings' off-court contributions, either, as the point guard is talking about leaving the team that drafted him.
Brandon Jennings Talks About Leaving Bucks In Free Agency
Brandon Jennings is under contract with the Milwaukee Bucks through next season, but he isn’t committing to signing an extension with the team that drafted him.
Jennings is still under contract with Milwaukee next season, but the 22-year-old guard told ESPN in an email interview that he’s looking at becoming a free agent instead of signing an extension to stay in Wisconsin.
“I am going to keep my options open, knowing that the time is coming up. I’m doing my homework on big market teams,” Jennings said in an email interview. “I’m not saying I won’t (sign an extension with the Bucks) and I’m not saying I will. I’m just keeping my options open.”
Jennings went on to say he’d continue playing hard every night for the Bucks as long as he was in town and has nothing against Milwaukee, but said his reason for possibly leaving is that he’s beginning to understand “the business of basketball.”
The most interesting quote, however, came regarding an odd comparison he made when comparing his situation to legitimate NBA superstars:
"When you start seeing other players like Dwight Howard or CP3, you start thinking,'' said Jennings, who is averaging 18.9 points and 5.3 assists for the Bucks.
Jennings isn’t on their level, at least not yet, and would be foolish to think that he’ll have that sort of impact as a player on the market.
