Lakers Don’t Have Serious Interest In Gilbert Arenas, According To Report

GM Mitch Kupchak of the Los Angeles Lakers did attend a workout for Gilbert Arenas last weekend as a first step on whether or not to consider adding the former Washington Wizards/Orlando Magic star to the roster.

Kobe Bryant has said that he is interested in the possibility, noting that "It surely wouldn't hurt."

However, according to the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers don’t seem all that interested in adding the former All-Star.

Although General Manager Mitch Kupchak attended a workout involving Arenas on Sunday at a Bel-Air practice court, a person familiar with the organization's thinking but not authorized to discuss it publicly said the Lakers did not have serious interest in signing the three-time All-Star.

The oft-injured 30-year-old was waived by the Orlando Magic via the amnesty clause after averaging 8.0 points in 49 games for Orlando last season.
