The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers game on Friday night likely won't be quite as exciting as it might have been five seasons ago, but it should provide its fair share of thrills when the two teams meet for the second game of an ESPN doubleheader. If nothing else, it'll be fun to watch what Kobe Bryant does.
Suns Vs. Lakers: Can Kobe Bryant Find His Shot?
Kobe Bryant will likely attempt to shoot out of his funk when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Phoenix Suns in the second game of an ESPN doubleheader on Friday night.
Bryant is averaging more points than anyone in the NBA, but it has come at a cost. He’s averaging over 25 points per contest in the Lakers last five games, but he’s had to shoot an incredible amount of shots to reach that total. The All-Star has made just 38 percent of his total field goals during that stretch while shooting a wretched 29.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
Bryant hasn't had a lot of help in the backcourt, though. Starting point guard Derek Fisher tallied just three points in the most recent game for the Lakers while Metta World Peace, the other perimeter starter, scored just 10 points while Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol combined for 35 in a victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
Fortunately for the Lakers, the Suns are struggling as they’ve lost three consecutive games. That stretch of games certainly wasn’t easy as they had to play the dreaded back-to-back-to-back, but this weekend’s match-up isn’t exactly the start of an easy schedule, either, as they’ll turn around and host the Lakers at home on Sunday following the Friday night game of the week.
