Former University of Virginia men’s lacrosse player George Huguely has been found guilty of the murder of Yeardley Love by a jury on Wednesday.

He was also found guilty of grand larceny. Huguely allegedly grabbed Love’s laptop and left her bleeding until she eventually died.
Huguely was found not guilty of robbery, of first-degree murder in commission of a robbery, of breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny and of breaking and entering with intent to commit assault and battery.
The jury reached a verdict after nine hours of deliberation. The jury consisted of seven men and five women.
The verdict comes on the heels of a two-week trial that centered on the events that took place over the course of 10 minutes in Love’s apartment during the couple’s senior year at Virginia. Huguely entered her bedroom by kicking down the door and engaged in a fight with her in an attempt to discuss their relationship. Love was found dead hours later.
24-year-old Huguely did not testify in court, though jurors did get to watch his videotaped statement given to police hours after Love’s body was found.
