Lamar Odom didn't return to the Dallas Mavericks following NBA All-Star Weekend and, according to the team, they aren't sure when he'll return. He will need to return, however, as owner Mark Cuban has said the Mavs won't do a buy-out of Odom's contract.
Lamar Odom Contract Buyout Unlikely After Forward Left Mavericks For Personal Reasons
Odom left the team last Wednesday, skipping a game against his former Los Angeles Lakers teammates, to tend to his ailing father. He isn't expected to be in uniform when the Mavericks play the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday, but Cuban told ESPN Dallas that Odom will have to return eventually.
“We haven’t discussed a buyout and we wouldn’t do a buyout. No chance that happens at all,” Cuban said. “We want to help Lamar work through any personal issues and expect him to be a valuable contributor to the Mavs this season. Players go through challenges from time to time and we try to be (an) organization that fully supports our players when things are challenging for them. We will do the same for Lamar.”
Hopefully everything is OK on the homefront for Odom and he’s able to return to the Mavs sooner rather than later.
