More important than the Mavericks' second consecutive loss, Dallas lost forward Dirk Nowitzki Wednesday for an indefinite amount of time. Nowitzki played for just under 10 minutes in the game before being forced out due to tightness in his lower back.
Dirk Nowitzki Injury: Bad Back Takes Star Out Of Mavericks’ Loss
Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki suffered a flare up to his back, forcing him out of the game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

“He clearly wasn’t moving the way he need to be moving, so we pulled the plug. So he’ll get treatment and we’ll see where we are Friday [in New Orleans],” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle told the Star-Telegram. “This is one of the realities of this league. You go with the guy you’ve got.”
Nowitzki scored just one point before leaving the game. Without Nowitzki on the court, the Mavericks struggled to keep up with the Memphis Grizzlies, losing 96-85. The Mavs are going through a rough stretch, losing four of their last five games.
