Good News For People Who Miss Carmelo Anthony Trade Rumors
Marc Berman of the New York Post writes that Carmelo Anthony hopes that the Knicks, mired in a six-game losing streak and on the verge of falling back out of the playoff bracket, deal him before the 3 p.m. Thursday trade deadline. Among the Knicks crimes: failing to consult Melo on player transactions, keeping Mike D'Antoni after last year's playoff sweep and not being terribly friendly with the superstar.
So pretty much, this is the best story ever.
The report claims that Melo was told D'Antoni would be fired after the Knicks were swept out of the playoff by the Celtics. (Anthony was brilliant in defeat in that series, by the way.) Instead, the man in charge when Melo arrived -- Donnie Walsh -- retired, leading to the promotion of Glenn Grunwald, who turns out to be close to D'Antoni. Or, as Berman's source puts it:
But now Anthony does not believe a decision on D’Antoni’s future is coming soon because D’Antoni and Grunwald, according to the source, are “like a couple.”
Oh, man. But the glee of that line is quickly replaced with puppy dog sadness.
Anthony is not close to owner James Dolan the way Amar’e Stoudemire is. [...]
Though Stoudemire lobbied for the Knicks to trade for Anthony, the pair’s friendship has not flourished.
It’s never good when a new work opportunity doesn’t work out. But there’s hope! ... right, Berman’s source?
Anthony is not jealous of Jeremy Lin's global fame, according to the source. Lin, the source said, is Anthony's favorite teammate, and Anthony feels they could be like the Thunder duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
Oh my God. Is this real?
