Lakers Trade For Michael Beasley Still In Place, According To Report

The L.A. Lakers have not yet completed a three-team deal that would bring Michael Beasley to Hollywood, where he has always belonged, but reports indicate that the move will likely go down before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline. Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register reports that it remains uncertain whether the Lakers will send veteran point guard Steve Blake or a first-round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers in the deal. The Blazers would send veteran guard Jamal Crawford to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the Wolves pitching Beasley to L.A.

Ding reports that if the Lakers can convince the Blazers, in dire need of a point guard who cares a little bit more than Raymond Felton (which is to say at all), L.A. could then send its first-round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Ramon Sessions.

Portland is in shambles, losing by 42 against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. The Knicks' head coach Mike D'Antoni had resigned earlier in the day, and New York was on a terrible losing streak coming in. The Wolves lost Ricky Rubio for the season last week, and have been completely overmatched at the shooting guard position, where Crawford can slot in, this season.
