NBA Scores: Clippers Need Overtime To Vanquish Pistons, Kings Roll

The Clippers needed overtime, but managed to close out the Pistons on Sunday.

Presswire

The L.A. Clippers got into the win column on Sunday, but needed some terrible Tayshaun Prince isolation plays and overtime to knock off the Detroit Pistons 87-83. (Yes, 87-83 in an overtime game. Early games on Sunday are always fantastic ideas.) Chris Paul, who finished with 19 points and 15 assists, was a killer down the stretch. Prince was not, as Detroit coach Lawrence Frank put the ball in the veteran's hands in two critical regulation possessions, looking for points. He would not get them.

L.A. moved to 26-18 with the win. Greg Monroe finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds for Detroit.

In other action ...

Kings 111, Timberwolves 95: Minnesota might very well be toast as Sacramento picked up its second straight blowout win. The Kings blew the doors off in the third quarter and goaded the Wolves into 21 turnovers. Jason Thompson and Chuck Hayes held Kevin Love to 7-of-20 shooting while shooting a combined 10-of-13 themselves. Marcus Thornton racked up 24 for Sacramento.

Hawks 103, Cavaliers 87: Joe Johnson scored 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting to lead Atlanta to the road win. Kyrie Irving had 19 points and 10 assists in a losing effort.

Grizzlies 97, Wizards 92: Memphis is having trouble putting away bad teams all of a sudden, but the Grizzlies did pick up the win on Sunday with Baltimore-native Rudy Gay putting down 27 in D.C. Zach Randolph had 13 points and nine rebounds in 24 minutes off of the bench in his second game back from injury. John Wall led the Wizards with 25.
