Net Cords: Russell Westbrook Can Take The Thunder All The Way

Oklahoma City Thunder "point guard" Russell Westbrook is the subject of much love and plenty of hate. He doesn't fit the mold for the position, which leads some to believe that he can't lead his team to an NBA title.

SB Nation's Thunder blog, Welcome to Loud City, has no time for that argument.

Why Russell Westbrook IS a Championship Point Guard, End of Story - Welcome to Loud City
[...] this argument is as hardline and foolish as they come. It makes the assertion that in order to be a point guard, one has to be along the lines of Steve Nash, Chris Paul, and Deron Williams....none of whom have ever won a championship.

Westbrook is highly talented and can be overly emotional at times. He plays with an edge and aggressiveness that is unique. He makes spectacular plays and misses obvious opportunities to set up his teammates. He’s a terrific scorer and can be a horrible decision-maker with the ball.

Westbrook is all of those things, but as as Welcome to Loud City points out, it is far too soon to say how far he can lead his team.

’Net Cords’ features the great work being done by the SB Nation network of NBA team sites.
