It was a bad night for the Boston Celtics the first (and only) they played the Philadelphia 76ers this season. Evan Turner went off for 26 points and nine rebounds, while the Celtics shot 35 percent from the floor in a 103-71 Philadelphia victory. Boston will have a chance to avenge that defeat on Friday night in Philly (8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Celtics Vs. Sixers: Boston Looks To Avenge Earlier Bad Defeat
The Boston Celtics would like a better showing on Friday night than they had during their first game against the Philadelphia 76ers, when they lost by 32 points.
Boston has looked like a slightly improved team since that defeat, and they're now just a half game behind Philly for the lead in the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia ripped off two more wins after defeating Boston, but they're in a rut at the moment, having lost four out of their last five. The lone win came against the Charlotte Bobcats. The four losses came against four Eastern Conference playoff teams -- Indiana, Miami, Chicago and New York.
The Celtics snapped the Milwaukee Bucks' six-game winning streak on Thursday night in Wisconsin, with Paul Pierce shooting 10-15 from the field as he scored 25 points in a 100-91 victory. Even with that win, the Celtics are just 9-13 on the road, and they'll be facing a Sixers team that has both the benefit of the home floor and a day off.
