The New York Knicks are going to be without their inspiring point guard for at least a month. Jeremy Lin, who was a record-breaker in his first several starts, has torn his meniscus, which will require surgery, accoring to Frank Islola, the Knicks writer for the New York Daily News.

Jeremy Lin reportedly has a torn meniscus and will miss six weeks, according to the New York Daily News.


The Knicks acquired Baron Davis to be the stating point guard months before Jeremy Lin grabbed the starting spot with his spectacular start while Davis was recovering from a herniated disc in his back. Davis will now become the starting point guard for the time being, with Mike Bibby as his backup.
Iman Shumpert, a point guard for Georgia Tech in college, has handled some point guard duties, and has proven to be a stellar defender, but whether he can be a playoff team's primary ball-handler is a different story. As of Saturday, the Knicks are 26-26 and a game and a half ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
