Flying Around, Through And Over Opponents: What’s Most Impressive?

What play best personifies what it means to fly in the NBA? Our Jordan Brand highlight series has narrowed it down to three highlights, two featuring a soaring Dwyane Wade.

In our Flight Meter series, we’ve looked at some of the best highlights of Jordan Brand athletes using their gifts to fly around, through and over opponents. We asked readers to vote for their favorite clip in each category, and we have those results.

Now, we need you to pick the best of those. In doing so, you make a tacit endorsement toward that particular characteristic, judging what’s most impressive and important: flying over, flying around or flying through the opponent. This is a critical decision, one that should not be taken lightly. We’ll understand if you need some time to think it over.

In case you missed them, here are our three candidate posts.

FLY THROUGH | FLY AROUND | FLY OVER

And here are the winners from each category. Remember to vote at the bottom of this post.

DWYANE WADE FLIES THROUGH ANDERSON VAREJAO

This is, quite simply, one of the nastiest dunk in recent NBA history. One of the top YouTube comments on the highlight plays on the demoralizing power of the clip:

LeBron: “Forget this, I’m joining Miami next year.“So it was written, and so it shall be forevermore.

CHRIS PAUL FLIES AROUND KOBE

Dame, you weren’t with Kobe getting crossed like a T.

There’s perhaps no better crossover in the NBA right now than what CP3 offers regularly; doing something that nasty against a perennial All-Defense (cough) player like Bryant is particularly nasty. When you have to let ‘em know about it so vociferously that you get hit with a technical, you know it was a good move.

And last but not least, in our tightest vote of all ...

DWYANE WADE FLIES OVER KENDRICK PERKINS

This dunk didn't quite get Perk to close down his Twitter account -- that honor was reserved for Blake Griffin -- but this was a sweet little soul-stealing piece of work from Wade, who broke toward the rim and climbed the ladder for a monstrous jam. Given that this was from late last season, it shows that though Wade is creeping toward 30, he still has springs in his legs and a cape on his back.

There are our three candidates. Which is the best play? What best personifies what it means to fly in the NBA? Vote below, and check back Friday for the results. Explain your pick in the comments, and you could be featured in our next post.
