NBA Trade Rumors: Washington Wizards Open To Dealing JaVale McGee, According To Report

Washington Wizards big man JaVale McGee is a polarizing player with plenty of upside and more than enough fundamental problems to make any coach go crazy -- which is why Bullets Forever made their best effort at exploring what McGee would be worth to various teams around the NBA -- and now it appears he is actually on the trade block. According to Michael Lee of the Washington Post, the Wizards are open to dealing McGee, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Mark Stein of ESPN reported earlier on Friday afternoon that Washington is interested in acquiring Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut, so that would seem to fit with a desire to move on from McGee, but Michael Lee also noted that “the Wizards don’t have the resources” to make the deal work and match Bogut’s $12 million salary in 2012.

As for McGee, he is averaging career highs in points (11.5), rebounds (8.9) and blocks (2.6) per game in his fourth NBA season, but has also struggled to stay focused. His most notable moment this season may have been when he unknowingly hustled back to the defensive end against the Toronto Raptors while the rest of his teammates finished out their offensive possession without him. That's not the way a player with his ability should be remembered, but lapses like that are at least part of the reason why the Wizards are making him available.
