Bulls Vs. Thunder: Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant Lead Oklahoma City To 92-78 Win

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook went off for the the Thunder. The Bulls' Derrick Rose sat out with an injury. You know how this ends: Oklahoma City 92, Chicago 78.

If it wasn’t terribly surprising that OKC handled the down-an-MVP Bulls, it was eye-opening how thoroughly they dispatched the NBA’s top team, which has remained a top team without Rose in the lineup this season. The Thunder never trailed and lead by as many as 30.

Some quick games notes (or just skip down to the must-see highlights):

• Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 53 (!) points on 21-of-32 shooting (!!!). They played 32 and 29 minutes of action respectively, which is to say that they could have scored much more.

• The Thunder defense held the Bulls to a putrid offensive outing, including 33 percent shooting from the field. OKC’s only blemish defensively was allowing the Bulls to collect 18 offensive rebounds, but when a team misses 61 shots, some of them are going to bounce back into their own hands.

• The win puts Oklahoma City (40-12) a game behind the Bulls (42-12) for the best record in the league, and homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. Obviously, this would be a big deal if these teams were to meet again in the NBA Finals.

• The Bulls need Derrick Rose. Yeah, I know ... OK, moving on ...

• Show This to Your Friends Right Now of the Game: Thunder Mascot hits halfcourt shot -- backwards

Everything the Thunder put up against the Bulls seemed to go in -- including their mascot. That’s Rumble the Bison, who has something to do with thunder, tossing a basketball backward over his head and then giving a non-nonchalant leg kick. The crowd loves it and so should you!
