It's been quite a while, if ever, since an April matchup between the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks was important as far as NBA playoff implications were concerned. That scenario will take place on Wednesday night, however, as both teams vie for a postseason berth.
Knicks Vs. Bucks: Playoff Implications Aplenty For Wednesday’s ESPN Game
Brandon Jennings and the Milwaukee Bucks are hoping to put themselves into a tie with the New York Knicks for the Western Conference’s final playoff spot. The game will air on ESPN at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night.
The Knicks are currently the eighth-best team in the Western Conference, meaning they have the conference’s final postseason berth on lockdown if New York is able to win the remainder of their games. The only team under them with a chance at moving up, however, is their Wednesday night opponents.
Milwaukee hasn’t been a model of consistency this season, but they have won four of their last five games while slowly gaining on the Knicks ... and therefore a postseason berth of their own. With a win on Wednesday night (8 p.m., ESPN), the Bucks would win the season series, too, giving them the tiebreaker in case they end up tied with the Knickerbockers when the regular season comes to a close.
Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings could be the difference-maker in the game, especially since the Knicks are without their starting point guard -- Jeremy Lin -- for the foreseeable future. Jennings scored his season-high 36 points against the Knicks when they met in January, but was held to just 15 points on 6-of-22 shooting when the Bucks lost to the Knicks last month.
