The NBA Lockout left the NBA with no choice but to go with a compressed schedule that calls more games in less days, and, according to the L.A. Times, less sleep for NBA players. You may remember last year’s New York Times piece on the staggering amount of napping that goes on in the NBA, but apparently the cat naps just aren’t getting it done anymore.
Today’s NBA Players Are Sleepy, And Michael Jordan Is Psychotic
And it’s hitting them hard, as Ron Artest Metta World Peace explains:
I love this game. The entire piece is a pretty entertaining read, so check it out. But most importantly, there’s also this incredible note about Michael Jordan:
Michael Jordan was a notorious light sleeper. After Chicago's 1989 season ended, he reportedly drove through the night to North Carolina to make a 10 a.m. tee time the next day. He then played 36 holes of golf without sleep, drove to South Carolina and played 54 holes a day for four consecutive days.
On a basketball court, a baseball diamond, a blackjack table, or even a golf course... Never forget that Michael Jordan’s the most batshit insane athlete we’ve ever seen.
