Ray Allen Injury: Ankle Pain Causes Celtics’ Guard To Sit Out Game 1 Vs. Hawks

After scoring five points on 2-7 shooting in the Celtics’ 101-85 Game 5 victory, Allen was asked whether his first start in more than a month felt different than any other. He normally responds to even the dumbest questions with a thoroughly-contemplated and articulate answer, but he was uncharacteristically short this time.

“Nope,” he replied.

Allen has missed the Celtics’ last nine games with a sore right ankle. We knew he was a game-time decision, and news from Doc Rivers had made it seem as if the chance Allen would take the court tonight was steadily decreasing as the week has gone on, but now it’s official.

It’s unclear whether Allen will be healthy as the series goes on, but we can assume he will remain a game-time decision in upcoming games.
