Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas will not return to the team next year following a dreadful 2011-12 season, the team announced on Monday. The 68-year old will step down after the Bobcats finished a woeful 7-59, which was the worst single-season winning percentage in NBA history.

Paul Silas will step down as the Charlotte Bobcats’ coach after presiding over a team that finished with the worst single-season winning percentage of all time.
General manager Rod Higgins said in the release that he hopes Silas will be a "valuable resource" for the franchise in the future. It remains to be seen if Silas does have a role in the organization. The fate of Stephen Silas, Paul's son that often took on a larger role coaching the team, is also unknown.
Silas was named the permanent coach this year after becoming the interim coach in December of 2010. He has a record of 377-531 in 11 seasons as a head coach in the league. Prior to this stint, he coached the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2003 to 2005.
