Sixers Vs. Celtics Final: Boston Rolls In 103-79 Drubbing

In a key Atlantic Division showdown on Sunday, the streaking Boston Celtics sent the Philadelphia 76ers tumbling further down the Eastern Conference standings with a 103-79 home win.

Boston's defense, which has fueled a second-half surge from one of the NBA's oldest teams, dominated, as none of Philadelphia's main scorers could get going. The 76ers leading scorer was rookie center Nikola Vucevic, who had 14 points, as Andre Iguodala, Jrue Holiday and Lou Williams were all held below their season averages.

The Celtics, on the other hand, had no such trouble against Philadelphia’s defense, shooting 58.8 percent from the floor while dishing out 32 assists on 40 field goals.

Rajon Rondo, despite having only 7 points, dominated the action with 15 assists in only 29 minutes. Boston's four other starters -- Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Brandon Bass and Avery Bradley -- all had at least 17 points.

Despite being a game between two teams that were separated by only two games in the loss column, it was never really close, as the Celtics pulled away in the second quarter. Boston was up 50-36 at halftime and never looked back.

With the win, they move to fourth place in the East and first in the Atlantic Division, while the 76ers slip to eighth place in the East and a full three games behind the Celtics in the Atlantic.
