Derrick Rose Injury Update: Bulls’ Doctor Expects 8-12 Month Recovery

It looks like Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose could miss up to half of next season as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in Game 1 of the Bulls' first-round 2012 NBA playoff series with the Philadelphia 76ers, a series Chicago lost in six games. Bulls team doctor Brian Cole said Rose's recovery will take eight to 12 months, which could put him out of action until late January at the earliest.

That’s a more pessimistic timetable than a previous report that suggested that Rose could return by late December. A late January return would mark nine months after Rose suffered the injury. He would only miss the whole season if he needed the full 12 months to recover.
