An arrest has been made following a gunfire incident amidst celebration of the Oklahoma City Thunder's series clinching victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Oklahoma City Police Make Arrest In Post Thunder-Lakers Shooting
Police say they have arrested 19-year-old Rodney Hill on complaints of shooting with intent to kill after eight people were injured in the city’s Bricktown neighborhood, according to the Associated Press.
One of the eight victims remains in critical condition Tuesday night.
The incident occurred as thousands of fans marched from and around the Chesapeake Energy Arena after Monday night’s game. While police say the shootings were probably not related to the playoff game, the damage was more severe due to the high volume of people in the area.
Police say additional arrests stemming from the shootings are likely.
Today a spokesman for the Thunder released a statement announcing that the franchise would work with the city to review the current security and crowd-control measures in place, and make any necessary changes to better ensure a safe environment for everyone.
