Quin Snyder, Brian Shaw To Interview For Bobcats Head Coaching Vacancy

The Charlotte Bobcats finished up what could easily be considered the worst season in NBA history by deciding not to renew the contract of head coach Paul Silas. Apparently determined not to let last season's debacle happen again, the team has cast about the widest net anyone has seen in recent memory during their search to replace the veteran head coach.

That search has brought about the known names like Jerry Sloan, Patrick Ewing and Nate McMillan, but Michael Jordan's squad is also interviewing a bevy of candidates that have paid their dues on the lesser stages of basketball such as D-League coaches turned NBA assistants like Nate Tibbetts, Dave Joerger and now -- according to ESPN's Chris Broussard -- Los Angeles Lakers assistant Quin Snyder.

The Charlotte Bobcats are in the process of setting up an interview with Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw, perhaps as soon as next week. They also plan to meet with Los Angeles Lakers assistant Quin Snyder in Chicago before the NBA pre-draft camp the first week in June, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

Obviously Shaw is going to be interviewed considering he’s been looked at as one of the top assistant coaches over the past few seasons and is credited for a fair amount of the Pacers’ success this season. The more interesting interview in this report is Snyder because, despite public perception that has followed him since his exit from the college ranks at Mizzou, he’s one of the brightest minds in basketball.

Snyder also has ties to the area, having been both a player and coach for the Duke Blue Devils under Mike Krzyzewski before moving onto Mizzou, the NBA Development League's Austin Toros and then stints with both the Philadelphia 76ers and Lakers.
