He wasn't supposed to play a major role in the 2012 NBA Playoffs, but injuries have forced Atlanta Hawks head coach Larry Drew to turn to Tracy McGrady.
Tracy McGrady Injury: Not Expected To Miss 2nd Half After Rolling Ankle
The two time-scoring champ is on the downside of his career, but showed flashes of brilliance in game three of tonight's Hawks-Celtics game, hitting his patented elbow jumper and exploding to the rim like it was 2003 all over again.
In 16 minutes, McGrady poured in 10 points on 5-9 shooting.
And then he rolled his ankle.
With less than a minute remaining, McGrady landed awkwardly on the court after shooting a jumper, rolling to the floor in pain and hobbling to the locker room for examination.
ESPN’s Lisa Salters is reporting that McGrady will play during the second half, as he was re-taped by the Hawks training staff and will come off the bench.
He appears to be OK, but it’s another injury the beleaguered Hawks cannot afford if they want to stay truly competitive with the Celtics in this series.
