Patrick Ewing Gets Interview For Charlotte Bobcats’ Head Coaching Job, According To Report

Patrick Ewing has been around the NBA for quite some time as both a player and a coach, but the New York Knicks' former All-Star has yet to receive much consideration as far as head coaching jobs are concerned. It seems that might be changing, however, as Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Bobcats plan to give him an interview for that opportunity.

Ewing is currently trying to help the Orlando Magic in their NBA Playoffs series against the Indiana Pacers. When that's through, though, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the center is going to interview with the Bobcats for the position that opened when Paul Silas departed.

Orlando Magic assistant Patrick Ewing will interview for the Charlotte Bobcats head-coaching job, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Bobcats are working to set up a meeting with Ewing once the Magic are finished in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Ewing is a close friend of Charlotte owner Michael Jordan, and several sources believe the Hall of Fame center will turn out to be a serious candidate for the opening.

It'll be interesting to see where this coaching search ends up considering the candidates currently mentioned range from Jerry Sloan to Ewing to Mike Malone.
