Jerry Buss was hospitalized Monday night in Los Angeles, apparently after suffering the effects of severe dehydration at his home. This according to a breaking news report from TMZ (via Lakers Nation), which notes:

Lakers owner Jerry Buss was hospitalized with severe hydration Monday night, according to a news report out of Los Angeles. His current condition remains unclear.
Famed L.A. Lakers owner Jerry Buss was rushed to an L.A. hospital last night, where he was treated for severe dehydration -- Buss family sources tell TMZ. ... 78-year-old Buss fell ill at his home around 9pm and someone inside the house called 911. The L.A. City Fire Department responded and paramedics rushed Jerry to a local L.A. hospital. It's unclear if Jerry's still being treated, or has been released.
Buss has owned the Lakers for several decades, turning them into the most successful franchise in the NBA and himself into a Southern California legend. But in recent years his health has suffered, and he’s begun to transfer control of the team over to his children, Jim and Jeannie.
Buss was also hospitalized earlier this year for blood clots, and while it’s certainly encouraging that the diagnosis this time appears benign, it’s still alarming considering his age and health problems in the past. Particularly since we don’t know yet whether he’s been released.
