Orlando Pro Summer League: Celtics Trounce Pacers, Stay Unbeaten

ORLANDO -- The Boston Celtics improved to 3-0 in Orlando Pro Summer League play on Wednesday as they soundly defeated the Indiana Pacers, 85-77. Boston outscored Indiana in each quarter, handing the Pacers their first loss of the week.

Star player: Jared Sullinger showcased the low-post scoring touch that made him a highly touted prospect out of Ohio State. The former Buckeye scored a team-best 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting and looked comfortable with his back to the basket, showing soft touch on his right-handed jump hooks. He also hauled in eight boards, another team-best figure, and blocked two shots.

Honorable mention: The Pacers surprised NBA fans on Draft night when they selected Miles Plumlee out of Duke, who averaged just 6.6 points per game in his senior season. Plumlee led the Pacers with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting. He also contributed eight boards and three blocked shots. Two of those blocks probably should have been called goaltends, however, including a Sullinger floater that Plumlee swatted after it had hit the backboard.

Disappointing player: Lance Stephenson didn't play well Wednesday following a dominant performance Tuesday. He forced the issue against Boston's defense and committed seven turnovers as a result. His shot-selection left plenty to be desired, but to his credit, he attacked the basket more often in the second half.

Dishonorable mention: In 13 minutes, NBA veteran Sean Williams tallied one foul. That's it. His invisibility prompted Boston's coaching staff to lean heavily on JaJuan Johnson off the bench; Johnson acquitted himself with 11 points, five boards, and three blocks in an active, intelligent performance.

Prospect watch: Celtics rookie Fab Melo contributed two points, four rebounds, and three assists in his 12 minutes. Second-year guard E`Twaun Moore shot 6-of-11 for 15 points in just 24 minutes.
