Orlando Pro Summer League: Enes Kanter’s Double-Double Propels Jazz Past Resting Magic

ORLANDO -- The Utah Jazz shot 48.4 percent and outrebounded the Orlando Magic by a 40-33 margin, helping them improve to 2-1 in Orlando Pro Summer League play. Alec Burks led four Utah players in double figures with 15 points.

Star player: Jazz center Enes Kanter had his way with every defender Orlando threw at him. The 267-pound behemoth bullied his way inside and showed soft touch around the rim for 12 points, while collecting 12 boards. Back-to-basket scorers, especially young ones, are hard to find in the NBA, but Utah has a budding one here in Kanter.

Honorable mention: Magic rookie Andrew Nicholson played just 16 minutes, as Orlando coach Mark Price attempted to limit fatigue for the core players on his squad. Nonetheless, the St. Bonaventure product shot 4-of-7 from the field and 8-of-8 from the charity stripe for an efficient 16 points.

Disappointing player: Charlie Westbrook made his Summer League debut for Orlando on Wednesday, but didn't make the most of his opportunity. He's known for his scoring prowess at South Dakota, where he averaged 18.7 points per game as a senior, but he managed just three points on 1-of-9 shooting in Wednesday's contest.

Dishonorable mention: Orlando center Kyle O`Quinn went scoreless on 0-for-2 shooting in his 11 minutes and simply was no match for Kanter inside.

Prospect watch: Jeremy Evans had a near double-double with 13 points and nine boards in just 18 minutes. The All-Star slam dunk champ hooked up with Blake Ahearn on a spectacular alley-oop in the second half and threw down two other nasty jams as well.
